Forge de Laguiole Tradition 12 cm Juniper

The Forge de Laguiole Tradition 12 cm Pocket Knife Juniper is an exquisite instrument of French craftsmanship, meticulously handmade in the village of Laguiole. This full-size model features a handle carved from Juniper wood, a material deeply rooted in European tradition. Highly prized for its aromatic, peppery scent that lingers for years, Juniper is also celebrated for its aesthetic beauty, showcasing a warm palette of light browns accented by dark, swirling knots and a tight, elegant grain.

Beyond its iconic status as a daily tool, this 12 cm folder is widely regarded as the ultimate folding steak knife for the culinary connoisseur. While many restaurants provide heavy, serrated "saws" that can tear through even the finest cuts of meat, carrying your own personal Forge de Laguiole ensures a clean, effortless slice that preserves the juices and texture of a premium steak. It is the hallmark of a true gourmet to carry a personal blade that respects the quality of the meal.

Like all Forge de Laguiole instruments, it showcases a forged T12 steel blade and a one-piece forged bee seamlessly integrated with a hand-decorated spring. Each masterpiece is crafted entirely by a single master artisan, ensuring exceptional attention to detail and a lifetime of performance.

What is a Forged Bee?

A forged bee is a hallmark of superior craftsmanship. You can identify it by examining the transition where the bee meets the decorated spring; if there are no visible gaps, the bee and spring were forged from a single piece of metal. This traditional method preserves the structural integrity and historical authenticity of the 1800s originals.

In contrast, many budget-friendly options feature soldered bees, recognizable by a straight gap or ridge where the bee is attached. Soldering is a modern, cost-saving method that lacks the durability and artisanal value of a true Forge de Laguiole instrument.
